SIOR Celebrates Second Annual Global Service Day

Local chapters of world-wide organization partner with organizations in their community to give back

Washington, DC (May 14, 2018) – The Society of Industrial and Office Realtors® (SIOR), which represents the world’s elite in industrial and office brokerage, this week celebrated its second annual Service Day on May 8. In observance of this day, SIOR members across the globe will participate in community service events organized by their local chapters over the next several weeks.

“The initiative taken by our chapters to go above and beyond for Service Day is truly humbling,” said Jim Hirt, CEO of SIOR. “As commercial real estate professionals, it is one of our highest priorities to find ways we can better serve our communities, and this is just one of the ways SIORs make an impact. As part of Service Day, our members will immerse themselves in a variety of charitable programs, and their eagerness to do so is a testament to our values and what it means to be an SIOR.”

In the spirit of giving back, local chapters have been partnering with non-profit organizations at local and national levels to organize unique events in their communities. Some of the philanthropic events include:

• SIOR’s Middle & East Tennessee Chapter volunteered with local Second Harvest Food Banks at the Knoxville and Nashville locations on May 8.

• Meanwhile, members from SIOR’s Philadelphia Chapter painted a room and hallway for the Salvation Army location in Reading on May 8, and also provided paint, brushes, and other supplies for the project.

• SIOR’s Pittsburgh, Western Pennsylvania, Northern West Virginia Chapter will host a charity bowling event for the Wounded Warrior Project on May 17 in Pittsburgh.

• SIOR’s Colorado Chapter contributes to a number of organizations throughout the year, and recently held its 6th Annual Masters Event to raise funds for The First Tee. For Service Day, the chapter is partnering again with Wish for Wheels, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that gives brand new bicycles and helmets to kids in low-income communities. Their event is slated to take place in June.

Several other chapters have been longtime supporters in their communities and donate time and resources to a variety of causes. Additional photos are available upon request.
Established in 1941, SIOR now extends to 48 chapters worldwide, consisting of nearly 3,200 members in more than 685 cities in 36 countries.
