SIOR Announces 2015 Executive Board and Events

SIOR members complete more than 80,000 transactions annually

SAN FRANCISCO – April 20, 2015 – The Northern California chapter of Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) has announced its executive board and calendar of events for the remainder of 2015. The board is made up of many of the industry’s most distinguished real estate professionals and the event roster promises to educate, engage and entertain its members and prospective members throughout the year.

The chapter’s president is Ken Reiff of DTZ and the vice president is Mark Triska with Colliers International. Also with Colliers International is the secretary, Todd Severson; the board member at large, Ed Hofer; and membership/admissions chair, Tom Tyer. The treasurer is John Hans of Rossetti Company and past president/adviser is John Robbins with Carpenter/Robbins Tenant Advisory Services.

The SIOR Spring World Conference will be held in Scottsdale, Ariz. from April 22 to 25. The chapter follows with one of its signature events at the beginning of the summer, the annual golf tournament at Wente Vineyards in Livermore, Calif. on June 4. During the summer, the Reno/Tahoe dinner meeting will be held Edgewood Lake Tahoe on July 30.

In the fall, the chapter will celebrate with the World Champion San Francisco Giants during its fall match up with the Cincinnati Reds at AT&T Park in San Francisco on September 16. The SIOR Fall World Conference will be held in Chicago from October 8 through 10. The final event of the year will be the holiday luncheon and awards ceremony at the St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco on December 3.

The chapter kicked off its year with two informative events, beginning with a private tour of Levi’s® Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara, Calif. Sponsored by Duke Realty, the program included a private tour of the stadium, along with an evening with top industry leaders giving their outlooks for commercial real estate for 2015. Speakers included moderator, Garrick Brown, DTZ vice president of research, western region; and panelists, Dan Letter, Prologis senior vice president/investment officer; Jay Bechtel, Google real estate manager; Merredith Treaster, Hines director and Paul Paradis, Hines senior managing director.

During the tour, some interesting real estate facts were provided: The $1.2 billion venue has 1.85 million square feet, seats approximately 68,500 and features 165 luxury suites and 8,500 club seats. The stadium was designed by HNTB, was built by Turner/Devcon for the Santa Clara Stadium Authority and is the next generation of stadium design. One of the most unique features of the facility is the green roof atop the suite tower on the west side of the stadium. The three solar bridges, connecting the main parking area to the stadium, include hundreds of solar panels.

The second event was a cave tour and wine dinner earlier this month at Pine Ridge Vineyards in Napa, Calif. The featured speaker was Linda Reiff, president and chief executive officer of Napa Valley Vintners, and the event sponsor was Lowenberg Corporation featuring John Baruh, vice president/asset management.

During the presentation, several real estate facts were noted: although the most renowned in the United States, the Napa Valley is also one of the smallest winegrowing regions in the world, with only 4 percent of California’s wine grapes coming from Napa Valley. Only 9 percent of Napa County’s 504,450 acres are planted for grapes or about 45,000 acres under cultivation. Napa Valley contains 33 soil series with more than 100 soil variations and half of the soil orders that exist within the world can be found in the Napa Valley. The local wine industry and related businesses creates an economic impact of more than $13 billion annually to the Napa County economy and represents a $50 billion economic impact on the U.S. economy. The local wine industry creates 46,000 jobs in Napa County and 303,000 nationwide.
